"The Obama administration promises it will be accountable in how it spends our (children’s) money in the new stimulus legislation," you say. I know you're only kind of serious, hence the parentheses, but you do realize that in inserting this remark you're propagating a Reaganite lie, yes? See Ann Pettifor's piece here for a pithy argument on how: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ann-pettifor/the-fiscal-stimulus-will_b_167119.html

Deficit spending during a recession is not only something we have to do, but it truly will pay for itself, in our lifetime. Our last Dem president inherited quite a deficit, was accused of being a free-spending liberal, and he ended up leaving the nation in a budget surplus. It didn't take long of course to turn that into a record deficit.

I'm a journalist. I understand economics and all kinds of things. Hire me.

A lot to offer? Most journalists I've come across take everything spoon fed, when they do try to dig in, they miss the point, that is unless its a political scandal. Where were they with Enron for example, besides placing hem on magazine covers and front page articles in teh Times and Journal?

We'll be in trouble enough giving the pols the powerto moves these sums, we'll be even worse off if its up to previously employed journalists, who in spite of seeing their own end coming, just ran faster toward the cliff....
