[...] Dan Gillmor: Here’s the gist. Michael Skube, a former newspaper editor and Pulitzer Prize winner who’s now a journalism professor, wrote an opinion piece for the LA Times in which he flays bloggers for alleged violations of journalistic principles. In this case, Skube writes, bloggers show little willingness to do serious reporting: devoting “time, thorough fact-checking and verification and, most of all, perseverance” to the topic.
The comment I had was about good critics being disfavored, because one needs to be obstreperous and ranty to be heard in the bogosphere (of course good criticism exists, but overall, IT'S NOT HEARD).

However, self-provingly, it was going to have to be an obstreperous and ranty comment.

It didn't seem worth it. Even if it was right it ended up somehow being wrong :-(.

Oh, Seth, have a heart.
Dan, I think Josh was referring to "better critics" of the blogosphere.

Seth, one of the *good* things about the blogosphere is the media criticism. Some of it is lousy, but there's a great deal of solid critiquing happening there -- things the traditional media have not done, or done rarely, in the past.
