		<description>You are right! There is significant money to be made from newspaper archives and assets and it doesn’t even depend on natural search results. While getting high placement on a search engine is always a nice bonus, my company, which operates &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.thenewsroom.com&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;TheNewsRoom &lt;/a&gt;, has designed a way to virally syndicate the news – both new stories and archives – down the “long tail” of the Web to the people for whom those stories have, as you say “special meaning.”

By integrating ads with those news stories, we have found a way to share revenue between the content producer and the people who distribute or syndicate the news. And we do this without requiring the news organizations to permanently archive the stories – we do that for them and provide our distributors the license not only to point to the article, but to embed or “mash” the article (or video, or image, or audio file!) right onto their site or blog. We’ve generated quite a buzz with the major news organizations and their advertisers. Many are already participating in Viral Syndication Network because our model gives them a way to get their content and ads to more readers, thus generating revenue that is beginning to compensate for declining circulation. Plus, we’re giving websites and blogs access to licensed, branded content from top news organizations and paying them to use it.
