		<description>There are several issues. I do believe the need for staff photographers for breaking news is diminishing, as I said in a recent posting. But to rely on freebies from amateurs strikes me as mistake all around.</description>

		<description>One of the UK&#039;s leading regional newspapers did very similar.  The Manchester Evening News now relies on just freelance photographers, there are no in-house staffers! Maybe that&#039;s why I saw a standalone picture of a Bulgarian dancer in the paper a couple of days ago with no reference to Manchester whatsoever.</description>
