Nick Carr has it down. Flog the blogosphere for being unegalitarian and the alleged “A List’s” alleged unwillingness to point to other people. Then wait for all the pointers.
Actually – and maybe this doesn’t matter – I didn’t say anything about any “unwillingness” to link, alleged or otherwise. In fact, a willingness to link is at the core of my argument. If there were in fact an unwillingness to link, it would probably, and paradoxically, have the effect of making the established hierarchy less rigid. Nothing I wrote implies any nefarious desire among popular bloggers to keep others out of their club; their popularity is in fact sustained by their generosity in linking, as that’s what creates the incentive for the blogger masses to link to them. You can’t have a system of patronage without patronage!
The blog address above has been spectacularly inept at attracting any notice whatsoever. I have two other blog sites that do quite well as far as hits and comments are concerned.
I notice that blogspot does not have a daily posting page that lists every posting. Could this be a problem?
