I just returned from the National Education Computing Conference (NECC) http://center.uoregon.edu/ISTE/NECC2006/ - 12,000 attendees, 100s of sessions, workshops, presentations, and the WiFi was constant and reliable in every room (San Diego Convention Center).

The best wifi I've encountered at a conference lately was at a hotel where the ballroom happened to sit right on top of a Panera Bread shop with free wi-fi. That worked far better than the conference's wifi!
