Citizen Media Highlights Apparent Plagiarism

The postings in TPMmuckraker’s Ann Coulter Archives lead to various articles and other evidence that her rancid writings aren’t always her own words, and the site is looking for more examples that it plans to publish soon.

I have many objections to her work — such as her too-frequently lack of accuracy and fairness — but I didn’t suspect until now that she was also a plagiarist.

the best way to deal with Ann Coulter is to simply ignore her. The only way she gets her outrageous utterings into the media and her books high up on bestseller lists is the news media’s–even the so-called serious or elite media’s– accessive attention to this woman who has nothing to offer than over-the-top statements. I really do not care whether she steals other peoples ideas, just let’s not waste a word on her–that will do her in.

Ok, how about actually giving names to the “citizens” who did the digging? It wasn’t TPMmuckraker. Follow the links and you find “RudePundit” and Ron Brynaert, writing for Raw Story.

Glancing through RudePundit’s, um, artful descriptions of Ann Coulter’s anatomy over the last year, I can understand how his revelations ons didn’t catch on right away.

As for Ron, he also did terrific work a year ago uncovering the plagiarism of Gannon/Guckert, which didn’t get widely reported. Granted, Ron’s work now was funded by the webzine Raw Story– and that may well be where the Post got clued in.Leaving me to wonder, as Seth acutely does, isn’t this closer to “freelance reporting”?

[…] My lack of interest in Coulter is evidenced by the fact that I just found this tidbit via Dan Gillmor’s Center for Citizen Media blog. […]
